Serving Our Community
Since 2000

Providing food, clothing, and shelter to those in need —
in Charlotte and around the world.

Our Story

Muslim Women of America

Muslim Women of America was founded in 2000 in Charlotte, NC by Sr. Khadijah (Anna Clyburn), a devoted community leader with a heart for service. What began as a local effort to feed and clothe underprivileged Muslims has grown into a nationwide movement with international reach.

Today, MWOA distributes food to families in need across Charlotte, provides meals to the homeless, and sends clothing donations to communities in Senegal, Nigeria, and Jamaica. We also support refugees and newly arrived Muslims with household essentials and a warm welcome.

Our goal: recruit 100 Muslim Sisters from across the United States to expand our charitable work and develop new strategies to serve those in need — because every hand helps.

Our Mission

Muslim Women of America

Muslim Women of America's main mission is to always help and serve the poor Muslims. We would like to help Muslims in our area as well as worldwide. We plan to help aid in:

  • Helping Muslims gain the correct knowledge and understanding of our righteous predecessors — based solely on the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him).
  • Homelessness
  • Hunger
  • Educating our children
  • Helping non-Muslims learn about the Islamic religion
  • Serving all of mankind in whatever way is most suitable for their needs
  • Offering other types of social services

A Message from Our Founder

I am Sister Khadijah; Founder of Muslim Women of America. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2000. All Praises Be Unto Allah.

For the past 15 years we have been helping the poor and needy Refugees and other poor Muslim families in our community with food, clothes, rent, utilities, cars, furniture and other resources to assist them. Al hamdulilah. We collect from the Muslim brothers and sisters and help our poor Muslim families with these donations.

Now the organization is in need of your help to purchase a building to hold all of these donations that we are getting. We plan to set our building up in a way that the poor Muslims can come there and get whatever they need for their families. In sha Allah. We are seriously in need of your monetary donations to make this dream a reality. In Sha Allah.

We also plan to offer our poor Refugee brothers and sisters classes to help them learn English. This way hopefully they will feel a little bit more comfortable adapting here in the U.S. There are some sisters and brothers that speak their language and can help them learn English. These sisters and brothers are willing to offer some of their time to teach them. We are very grateful to Almighty Allah for this.

Please if you could take a few moments to visit our website to better understand what our Mission is and what we have been doing for the poor refugees in our community for the past 15 years.

May Allah bless each and everyone of you and your families for donating to Muslim Women of America.

Thank you. Jaz. Kharin
As Salamu Alaikum wa Rahmatulahi Wabarakatahu
